Who even are you?

Okay, fair question! We’re the new kid on the block. Loudmouth Books is a Black, queer, woman-owned Indianapolis-based independent bookstore dedicated to highlighting banned books and uplifting the work of marginalized authors.

How can I get involved?

Another fantastic question! Loudmouth offers a number of community programs that are always open to donations to help fund. Please consider contributing to our opening GoFundMe here! Also, since Loudmouth is an independent bookstore with a mission to reach as many folks as possible, we are always open to building community partnerships that help build a stronger relationship with the Indianapolis community.

What does Loudmouth do besides sell books?

Loudmouth Books is an independently owned and operated bookstore and community space! We host author events, children’s story hour, and more, all free and open to the public. Loudmouth is dedicated to channeling our energy and resources right back into community programming focused on increasing access to diverse literature for all Hoosiers.

Where'd Loudmouth come from?

It’s a good name, right? We totally agree. Loudmouth was founded by bestselling author and Indianapolis native, Leah Johnson in 2023 in response to ongoing book banning attacks that target BIPOC and queer books and authors. At Loudmouth, we’ll always loudly and proudly proclaim our passion for stories by, for, and about marginalized people.
